Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 October 2026

Flirtie is an app where you talk with Ava, an AI companion who lives in a small 3D home on your iPhone. This policy explains what information the app uses, why, who it is shared with, where it is kept, and how you can delete it. It covers the Flirtie app and this website. Flirtie is published by Canicel Investments Inc. ("we", "us").

The short version

  • You do not need a name, an email address or a password to use Flirtie. Your account is anonymous.
  • Your chats, Ava's memories of you and your call recordings are kept on your iPhone.
  • To let Ava answer, what you say is sent to AI services. Our own servers pass it along and do not keep it.
  • The backup on our servers is locked on your iPhone with a key we never receive. We cannot read it.
  • We do not sell your information, and your conversations are never used for advertising.
  • Flirtie is for adults, 18 and over.
  • You can delete what our servers hold at any time, from inside the app.

1. What Flirtie collects and why

Your account

The first time you open Flirtie, the app creates an anonymous account: a random ID with no name, email address or password attached. It lets our servers recognise your iPhone so that calls, backup and purchases work. If you choose Sign in with Apple (to carry your backup to a new iPhone), your account is linked to your Apple Account. We do not ask Apple for your name or your email address.

What you tell us when you start

The app asks for your date of birth to check that you are 18 or over. It also asks what Ava should call you, your pronouns and a few questions about what you are looking for. Ava remembers these answers, including your birthday, so she can talk to you like someone who knows you. They are kept on your iPhone as part of her memory.

Your conversations with Ava

Your messages, Ava's replies, and the things she remembers about you are stored on your iPhone. To write a reply, the app sends the recent conversation and the relevant memories through our server to AI model providers (see section 2). Our server passes them through and does not store or log their content. It keeps only counts: what kind of request it was, how big, how long it took and what it cost.

People tell a companion personal things. Anything you choose to share with Ava, including sensitive things such as your health, your relationships or your beliefs, is handled the same way: kept on your iPhone and sent to the AI providers only to produce her answers. Please do not share information you would not want processed this way, and do not share other people's private information.

A part of the AI also reads each message for signs that someone may be in danger or may be under 18, so that Ava can respond with care (for example by pointing to a crisis line) and so the app can keep minors out.

Voice calls and voice messages

The app uses the microphone only while you are on a call or recording a voice message.

Photos, videos and links you send

When you send Ava a photo or a video, or share a post with her from another app, it is saved on your iPhone and sent through our server to an AI model that describes it to her (for a video, the first few minutes). Our server does not keep it. When you share a link, your iPhone fetches the post directly from the site it is on (for example TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, Reddit or Facebook), so that site sees a request from your internet address, as it would in a browser. The app uses the camera only when you choose to take a photo or video for Ava.

When Ava looks something up

If you ask Ava something that needs the web, a search query written by the AI is sent to a web search service. You can turn this off in Settings, under Ava's phone.

Location

Location is optional and off until you choose to share your area. If you do, the app takes an approximate position (your neighbourhood, not your address) and gives it to Apple Maps to find places near you. The AI is told place names and travel times, never coordinates. If location is allowed, Apple Weather also uses it so the weather outside Ava's windows matches yours. Otherwise the app uses the main city of your time zone. We do not store your location on our servers.

Contacts

If you allow it, Flirtie adds one contact card for Ava to your contacts, so her name and picture show on your iPhone's call screen when she rings. The app does not read, copy or upload your other contacts.

Face ID lock

You can lock Flirtie with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. The check is done by your iPhone. Flirtie never receives your face or fingerprint data.

Notifications and calls from Ava

Ava's texts arrive as notifications that are scheduled on your iPhone itself. For Ava to ring you when the app is closed, our server stores your iPhone's push address, your time zone, and the times of planned calls with whether they were answered. Why she is calling stays on your iPhone. You can turn calls off in Settings.

Purchases

Payments are handled by Apple. We never see your card or your Apple Account details. We and our purchases provider, RevenueCat, receive a record of what was bought (the product, the date, whether a trial started, renewals and cancellations) tied to your anonymous account ID, so the app can unlock what you paid for. Your credit balance is kept on your iPhone and in your backup.

Backup

Backup keeps a copy of your chats, Ava's memory, your settings, and the photos, voice messages and call recordings in the conversation, so they survive a lost or new iPhone. Before anything is sent, your iPhone encrypts it with a key that is created on the iPhone and stored in your iCloud Keychain. We never receive the key, so we cannot read your backup. Backup is on by default. You can turn it off in Settings under Privacy, and you can delete the stored copy there too (see section 5).

Help

When you write to us in Settings, under Help, we store the conversation on our servers so we can answer you. Your app version, iPhone model, iOS version, language, region, time zone, whether you subscribe, and whether notifications are allowed come along so we can help faster. An AI model sorts incoming messages by topic and urgency. If you write to Help, we store a push address so you can be notified of our answer. Your chats with Ava are never attached.

The Ideas board

Ideas, comments and votes you post on the Ideas board are stored on our servers, and ideas and comments are visible to other people who use Flirtie. No name is shown with them. Posts are checked by an AI model before they appear, and can be reported and removed.

Feedback on Ava's messages

If you rate one of Ava's messages or add a note, the rating and the surrounding conversation are saved on your iPhone only. We receive just the fact that a rating was given.

How the app is used, and crash reports

The app sends our servers a small set of events so we can see what works: for example that the app was opened, that a message was sent (its length, never its text), that a call started, that the offer screen was seen, or that a purchase was made. Each event carries your anonymous account ID, the app version, the iOS version, your country and whether you subscribe. If the app crashes or hangs, a technical report is sent with the device model, a device identifier that Apple provides to our apps only, and what the app was doing.

Measuring advertising

To learn which ads bring people to Flirtie, the app uses AppsFlyer. If you allow tracking when your iPhone asks, AppsFlyer receives your iPhone's advertising identifier. It also receives a device identifier, your internet address (from which a rough city or country is worked out), device details such as model and iOS version, your anonymous account ID, and a few events: that you sent a first message, saw the offer screen, or linked your Apple Account. Trial and subscription events reach AppsFlyer from RevenueCat. AppsFlyer passes these on to the ad network that showed the ad, such as Meta, so it can count the result. Your conversations are never part of this.

This does not run until you have confirmed you are an adult, and it does not run at all in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. You can turn it off at any time in Settings, under Privacy, with "Share activity for ads", and in your iPhone's own Settings under Privacy and Security, Tracking.

Recordings of how the app is used

To find where the app goes wrong, Flirtie can send PostHog recordings of the screen while the app is used. Before anything leaves your iPhone, text, text fields and images are blanked out, so messages, names and photos are not in the recording. Ava's 3D room and screens with nothing personal on them (the shop, the Flirtie+ offer, the credit packs, Settings) can be seen. Recordings are tied to your anonymous account ID. This does not run until you have confirmed you are an adult, and never in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. You can turn it off in Settings, under Privacy, with "Help improve Flirtie".

This website

This website has no accounts, no advertising and no tracking cookies. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as internet address and browser type) to run and protect the site.

2. Who your information is shared with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the services that make Flirtie work, and only what each one needs:

OpenRouter and the AI model providers it routes toConversation text and memories, to write Ava's replies. Photos and videos you send, to describe them (Google's Gemini models). Search queries for web lookups. Your account ID is not sent with them.Includes providers such as Together AI and Google, and search services such as Parallel and Perplexity.
fal and ElevenLabsThe text of Ava's lines, to turn them into her voice. The audio of voice messages you send, to turn them into text.
kie.aiWhere pictures from Ava are available: a written description of the scene and reference pictures of the character, to make the image. No photos of you.
SupabaseHosts our servers and database: your anonymous account, the encrypted backup, call scheduling, Help, the Ideas board, usage events and crash reports.
ApplePayments, Sign in with Apple, push notifications and calls, speech recognition, Maps (places near you) and Weather.
RevenueCatPurchase records tied to your anonymous account ID, and, where ad measurement is on, device identifiers to connect a subscription to the ad it came from.
AppsFlyer and ad networks such as MetaAd measurement, as described above. Never your conversations.
PostHogScreen recordings with text and images blanked out, as described above.

Where a provider offers the choice, we ask that your content is not used to train their AI models. Each provider handles information under its own terms and may keep it for a limited time, for example to prevent abuse.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, to protect our rights, or as part of a sale or merger of the business, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information.

3. Where it is kept

If you use Flirtie from outside the United States, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries, whose data protection laws may differ from those where you live.

4. How long it is kept

5. Your choices and how to delete your information

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, to withdraw a permission you gave, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because accounts are anonymous, we may need your account ID from the app to find your records. To use any of these rights, contact us (section 10). We will not treat you differently for doing so.

Where the law asks for a reason for using personal information, ours are: to provide the service you asked for (your account, Ava's replies, calls, backup, purchases, Help); your permission (microphone, camera, location, contacts, notifications, tracking); and our legitimate interest in keeping Flirtie safe, fixing it and understanding how it is used.

We do not sell personal information. Passing ad measurement information to ad networks may count as "sharing" under some United States state laws. You can opt out with the "Share activity for ads" switch in Settings or your iPhone's Tracking setting.

7. Children

Flirtie is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it. The app asks for your date of birth before you can begin and does not let anyone under 18 continue. Ad measurement and screen recordings never start for someone who has not confirmed they are an adult. If something in a conversation suggests a person may be under 18, the app asks for their age again and limits what Ava will talk about. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used Flirtie, please contact us and we will delete what we hold.

8. Keeping it safe

Information is encrypted when it travels between your iPhone, our servers and our providers. Your backup is encrypted on your iPhone before it is sent. Access to our servers is limited to the people who need it to run Flirtie. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise that nothing will ever go wrong, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if the law requires it when something does.

9. Changes to this policy

When Flirtie changes, this policy will change with it. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will make that clear in the app or on this page before it takes effect.
